The Universal Open will take place from June 25-28 at the Pluit Village Mall in Jakarta, Indonesia, as the World Nineball Tour returns to the emerald of the equator.
Reigning two-time world champion Carlo Biado and US Open winner Aloysius Yapp will headline the lineup, with the eventual winner receiving the $15,000 champion’s cheque.
World number four Johann Chua, Jefrey Roda and Jeffrey Ignacio are amongst a strong Filipino contingent, which also involves Reyes Cup MVP AJ Manas, Bernie Regalario, Michael Baoanan, Ronel Nalaunan, Alexis Ferrer, James Aranas and Jonas Magpantay.
Other notable entrants include former major champions Mickey Krause and Robbie Capito, as well as Mohammad Soufi, Lo Ho Sum, Nguyen Anh Tuan, Max Eberle and Jose Alberto Delgado.
Indonesian teenage sensation Albert Januarta will lead the hopes of the host nation, alongside the likes of his brother Andri Januarta, Punguan Sihombing, Edward Koyongian and Irsal Nasution.
The tournament will be double elimination and race-to-nine until 64 players remain, race-to-eight on the one-loss side. It will be race-to-10 from then until the race-to-11 quarter-finals and semi-finals, before the final is first to 13 racks.
Coverage will be broadcast via the Fullcan Sports YouTube channel as well as WNT TV for subscribers across the four days, including Sunday’s semi-finals and final.
