Hungary’s Oliver Szolnoki currently stands in a provisional place for the European team at this year’s Mosconi Cup following a sensational two months which has seen him seal three WNT ranking titles.

Szolnoki was a quarter-finalist at March’s European Open Championship in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but the Hungarian has since dominated the smaller ranking events on the World Nineball Tour to get himself into Mosconi Cup contention.

The 29-year-old defeated Fraser Patrick to win April’s Bob Stocks Memorial and added to that by beating Albert Januarta in the Scottish Open final, before denying defending champion Pijus Labutis 11-9 in the Estonian Open title decider at the weekend.

Szolnoki’s success sees him behind only UK Open winner Joshua Filler and European Open champion Moritz Neuhausen in the Mosconi Cup standings, with a debut on the European team potentially on the cards.

Thorsten Hohmann, who switched allegiances from Germany to the USA ahead of this season, could make his Mosconi Cup bow this December, leading the American race alongside Lukas Fracasso-Verner.

The Mosconi Cup qualification cut-offs for 2026 are yet to be confirmed by the World Nineball Tour, although three players will automatically qualify for their respective teams and be joined by two captain’s wildcards.
