The Vice City Classic takes place from July 29 until August 2 at Classic Billiards in Lauderhill, Florida, kick-starting a mouthwatering five-week spell of action on the World Nineball Tour in the United States.
Offering players an ideal opportunity ahead of next week’s lucrative Florida Open Championship in nearby Orlando, the Vice City Classic will see seven of the world’s top ten players compete in one of the USA’s finest pool rooms.
World number one and US Open champion Aloysius Yapp will headline a star-studded 128-player field, which also includes reigning two-time world champion Carlo Biado, Fedor Gorst and Joshua Filler.
Francisco Sanchez Ruiz, Moritz Neuhausen, Pijus Labutis and brothers Eklent and Kledio Kaci are the other elite names to have entered, while David Alcaide, Wiktor Zielinski, Robbie Capito and Jonas Souto Comino will also be involved.
Vietnamese number one Duong Quoc Hoang will return to the venue in which he was crowned Premier League Pool champion earlier this year, while Hungary’s Oliver Szolnoki will be attempting to seal his fourth WNT ranking title of the season.
Other notable entrants include the legendary Ralf Souquet, Mickey Krause, Denis Grabe and Reyes Cup MVP AJ Manas, as well as Mario He, Sanjin Pehlivanovic, Gerson Martinez, Vitaliy Patsura, Marc Bijsterbosch and Philippines Open runner-up Arseni Sevastyanov.
In addition, it marks the beginning of a crucial period for American players towards this year’s Mosconi Cup, with Tyler Styer, Thorsten Hohmann, Justin Bergman and Anthony Meglino amongst those vying to prove their Team USA credentials.
The tournament will be double elimination and race-to-nine racks until 32 players remain, when the format switches to single elimination and race-to-11 racks. Sunday’s final will be race-to-13 racks.
