The prestigious Women’s World 9-Ball Championship will take place at the Claudelands Events Centre in Hamilton, New Zealand this September as part of a Predator Pro Billiard Series treble-header.

The Pro Billiard Series will head down under for the first time in its history from September 2-8, hosting the most lucrative women’s tournament as well as the New Zealand Open and the World Juniors Championships, both 10-ball events.

The Women’s World Championship will involve a field of 48 players competing for $175,000 in prize money, with Taiwanese sensation Chou Chieh-Yu being the defending champion after beating Allison Fisher 9-0 in last year’s final in Atlantic City.

The World Juniors Championship will see the usual disciplines take place, with those being the boys U17, boys U19 and girls categories, while the New Zealand Open follows in the footsteps of events such as the Las Vegas Open.

The men’s tournament will see 64 players competing for $75,000 in prize money, with the PBS unique race-to-four set play format being used for that event.

WPA president Ishaun Singh said: “Embracing the rich tapestry of talent from around the globe, the WPA eagerly anticipates the forthcoming Women’s World 9-Ball Championship and the World Juniors Championship set to unfold in the picturesque setting of New Zealand.

“These prestigious events not only showcase the pinnacle of skill and dedication within our sport but also serve as a beacon of inspiration for aspiring players of all ages and backgrounds.

“We extend our warmest wishes to all participants and eagerly await the exhilarating displays of athleticism and sportsmanship that will undoubtedly captivate audiences worldwide.”
