The second staging of the Women’s Saigon 9-Ball Open will take place from September 21-25 at the Military Zone 7 Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, held alongside the Men’s World 10-Ball Championship.
Women’s world number one Wei Tzu-Chien will act as the defending champion having beaten Rubilen Amit in last year’s final, while reigning women’s world champion Seo Seoa and newly-crowned women’s world 10-ball champion Margarita Fefilova will also be amongst the title favourites.
Seven women’s world 9-ball champions are involved in a star-studded field, with Amit, Seoa and four-time champion Han Yu accompanied by Liu Shasha, Chou Chieh-Yu, Fu Xiaofang and Kelly Fisher.
Other notable entrants include Jasmin Ouschan and Chezka Centeno, who compete ahead of a potentially historic Women’s World 9-Ball Championship campaign in Indonesia, as well as Pia Filler, Kristina Tkach, Savannah Easton, Meng-Hsia Hung and Chihiro Kawahara.
Just five Vietnamese players have entered the tournament on home turf, notably including Xuan Vang Bui, Duong Van Yi and Nguyen Bich Tram, while English eight-ball star Amy Beauchamp tries her hand at 9-ball pool.
The $90,000 tournament, which rewards $25,000 to the eventual champion, will feature 64 players and is double elimination during the early rounds, with 16 players advancing to the single elimination phase.
It will be best-of-three sets of race-to-four racks throughout the duration, as has become the norm in Predator Pro Billiard Series events. A shootout will determine the winner should the score be 3-3 in the deciding set.
Free main table coverage and additional coverage of three tables will be broadcast throughout the duration of the tournament via the Billiard TV website and Pro Billiard TV on YouTube, while Box Billiards Vietnam will show matches via their YouTube channel.
