The Predator Pro Billiard Series returns to Europe and visits Austria from June 16-23 as the Billiard Beckmann Men’s 10-Ball Open takes place at the Hotel Alpina Alpendorf in St Johann im Pongau.
An annual stop on the Euro Tour, the Austrian alpine city will now host some of the world’s elite players for the $125,000 tournament, with the eventual winner receiving the $37,500 champion’s cheque.
Austrian stars Albin Ouschan, Max Lechner and Mario He will all compete on home turf, while Joshua Filler and Fedor Gorst, who contested March’s Las Vegas Open final, will headline the 96-player lineup.
Wojciech Szewczyk, the number one on the WPA men’s world rankings, leads a strong Polish contingent alongside Daniel Maciol and Mieszko Fortunski, while Japan’s Naoyuki Oi, Taiwan’s Wu Kun-Lin and Hong Kong’s Robbie Capito are the stand out names to have travelled from Asia.
Other notable entrants include Spanish amigos Francisco Sanchez Ruiz, David Alcaide and Jonas Souto Comino, as well as Jayson Shaw, Eklent Kaci, Wiktor Zielinski, Alex Kazakis, Pijus Labutis and Denis Grabe.
The Pro Billiard Series stop in Austria will be double elimination until 16 players remain and uses Predator’s unique format, with three sets of race-to-four being contested. Should the third set be level at 3-3, a shootout will determine the winner.
Players must sink the 10 ball when it is the lowest-numbered ball and with a proper call in order to win each rack, and the ball will be re-spotted should it be potted earlier.
Free coverage will be broadcast throughout the duration of the tournament via the Billiard TV websiteand Pro Billiard TV on YouTube.
