Shane van Boening won the 10-ball challenge at the prestigious Derby City Classic for the first time in his eight years, defeating Poland’s Konrad Juszczyszyn in the final.
Van Boening defeated Niels Feijen and Lee Van Corteza in the 2014 and 2015 finals, and the American completed the three-peat with an 11-7 victory over Poland’s Juszczyszyn in the 2023 showpiece.
Van Boening thrashed 2018 winner Roberto Gomez 11-3 in the semi-finals, having already beaten three-time champion Jayson Shaw in a closely-contested affair and brushed aside Max Eberle.
Juszczyszyn defeated defending champion Joshua Filler 11-9 in the quarter-finals and the Pole also recorded victories over Canada’s John Morra and Filipino Corteza.
Van Boening scooped the $16,000 top prize following his success compared to Juszczyszyn’s $8,000, while semi-finalists Gomez and Corteza took home $4,000 apiece.
Elsewhere, Fedor Gorst was denied in a thrilling 11-9 contest against Gomez in the quarter-finals, while Skyler Woodward went down in the opening round at the hands of Shaw.
