The lucrative World 10-Ball Championship takes place from February 28 until March 4 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, with the eventual champion receiving the joint-highest payday in the sport.
Poland’s Wojciech Szewczyk will be the defending champion after emerging as a somewhat surprise champion twelve months ago, defeating Peruvian Christopher Tevez in an unexpected final.
His countryman Wiktor Zielinski also headlines a star-studded lineup days after defending his prestigious Las Vegas Open title, while runner-up Sanjin Pehlivanovic of Bosnia and Herzegovina enters the tournament during a rich vein of form.
Francisco Sanchez Ruiz will be vying to secure an unprecedented treble, having already won the World 9-Ball and World 8-Ball titles in recent months. Him achieving the three-peat would be something simply astonishing.
In addition, former finalist Joshua Filler, Shane van Boening and Albin Ouschan are amongst the household names competing, as are former champions Eklent Kaci, Ko Pin-Yi, Ko Ping-Chung and Mika Immonen.
The $250,000 tournament, which rewards $60,000 to the eventual champion, will feature 128 players and is double elimination during the early stages, with 32 players advancing to the redrawn single elimination phase.
Matches will be contested over a race-to-eight racks format during the double elimination phase, before the format is increased to race-to-ten going into the last 32 onwards.
Free coverage will be broadcast throughout the duration of the tournament via the Billiard TV website and World Billiard TV on YouTube, with the final held on Saturday evening local time in Las Vegas.
