The World Nineball Tour heads to Indonesia for the first time this week as the Carabao International Open takes place at the stunning Nusantara International Convention Exhibition in Jakarta.
History will be made in the Indonesian capital as 128 players compete in the $100,000 tournament, with world champion Carlo Biado and US Open winner Aloysius Yapp headlining an event involving most of Asia’s finest cueists.
Other notable entrants include former Hanoi Open champion Johann Chua, Robbie Capito and two-time world champion Thorsten Hohmann, as well as Japan’s Naoyuki Oi, Vietnam’s Duong Quoc Hoang and Denmark’s Mickey Krause.
In addition, Wu Kun-Lin, Philippines Open runner-up Arseni Sevastyanov, Oliver Szolnoki, Mohammad Soufi, Ameer Ali and Vietnam’s Luong Duc Thien and Phuong Nam Pham have also entered the historic tournament.
Reyes Cup star AJ Manas, Bernie Regalario, Jefrey Roda and Jeffrey Ignacio are amongst the 41 Filipino entrants, which also includes Jonas Magpantay, Jeffrey de Luna, Anton Raga, Alexis Ferrer, James Aranas, Harry Vergara and Chinese Taipei Open runner-up Ronel Nalaunan.
Teenage sensation Albert Januarta, a ranking event winner on the WNT circuit last year, is Indonesia’s greatest hope of home success, while other players competing on home soil include Edward Koyongian, Andri Januarta, Alvin Anggito and Punguan Sihombing.
It will be race-to-nine racks during the double elimination phase, race-to-eight racks on the one-loss side, before increasing to race-to-10 racks from the last 64 through to Sunday’s race-to-13 finals.
Main table coverage will be available to those with an active WNT TV subscription, while the outside tables will be broadcast via Vidio, Vision+ and the Carabao Billiards Indonesia YouTube channel.
