China Open 9-Ball Championship 2025: Draw, live scores, format, prize fund and how to watch

The 14th staging of the China Open 9-Ball Championship takes place from September 10-14 in Shanghai as Joshua Filler and Han Yu defend their titles.

One of the most lucrative tournaments on the WPA calendar returns to the Tangzhen Cultural and Sports Centre, with more than $270,000 in prize money on offer across the men’s and women’s events.

Three-time champion Filler headlines the men’s tournament alongside US Open champion Aloysius Yapp, two-time world champion Fedor Gorst and WPA number one Alex Kazakis.

All of the world’s top 16 on the men’s WPA rankings will be involved, also including the likes of Wojciech Szewzyk, Daniel Maciol, Wu Kun-Lin, Naoyuki Oi, Mario He and Denis Grabe.

Other notable entrants include two-time world champion Albin Ouschan and last year’s runner-up Anton Raga, as well as Max Lechner, Robbie Capito, Gerson Martinez and past world champions Alex Pagulayan and Ralf Souquet.

Meanwhile, four-time champion Han Yu leads the way in the women’s field, competing alongside the likes of two-time winner Fu Xiaofang, 2013 winner Liu Shasha and Zhang Mayan on home soil in Shanghai.

Women’s world number one Kristina Tkach and Jasmin Ouschan will also be amongst the title favourites, while other entrants include 2012 winner Kelly Fisher, Chou Chieh-Yu, Seo Seoa, Kristina Zlateva, Wei Tzu-Chien, Pia Filler and Chihiro Kawahara.

The format will be double elimination until the last 32 in the men’s and the last 16 in the women’s tournament, with alternate break and race-to-seven racks, before increasing to race-to-eleven for the single elimination phase.

The tournament will see matches played in accordance with the current WPA rules and regulations, nine ball on the spot, no break box and the three-point rule will be enforced.

Coverage will be broadcast throughout via the newly-launched WPA Live TV free of charge, with selected matches as well as Sunday’s men’s and women’s finals being shown.
