The Qatar 10-Ball World Cup, formerly known as the Qatar Open, will take place from December 9-14 at the Ezdan Palace Hotel in Doha, sanctioned by the World Pool Association.
Joshua Filler, who reigned victorious last October at the Qatar Open, headlines a strong field for the $450,000 tournament in the Qatari capital, which involves the likes of Alexander Kazakis, Albin Ouschan and Niels Feijen.
Darren Appleton, Naoyuki Oi, Sanjin Pehlivanovic, Marc Bijsterbosch, Denis Grabe, Mika Immonen, Chang Jung-Lin, Mario He and Max Lechner are also amongst those competing for the $100,000 top prize, as are Filipinos Anton Raga and Kyle Amoroto.
Poland will be strongly represented as usual by the likes of former world 10-ball champion Wojciech Szewczyk, Mieszko Fortunski, Konrad Juszczyszyn, Daniel Maciol, Hubert Lupotko, Mateusz Sniegocki and 2023 Qatar Open semi-finalist Szymon Kural.
Russia’s Ruslan Chinakhov will make his return to the international scene following a lengthy absence, while Qatar’s predominant hopes of home success lie in the hands of Ali Al-Obaidli and Bashar Hussain.
The tournament will be double elimination and race-to-nine until 64 players remain, before the format increases to race-to-11, while coverage will be broadcast on the Qatar Billiard Sports Federation YouTube channel.
