The 2024 World Pool Masters will take place in Germany for the first time in its three-decade long history, with Joshua Filler’s homeland set to host the 30th anniversary tournament from April 25-28.
Ko Pin-Yi will defend his title at Halle 39 in Hildesheim, having beaten Eklent Kaci in this year’s event and sealed the $40,000 top prize in the process, with the top 14 on the World Nineball Tour rankings being accompanied by two wildcards.
Having been held in Gibraltar for five years and attracted sparse audiences, the move to Germany will undoubtedly see a remarkable rise in terms of crowd numbers to witness the world’s very elite in action.
Two-time champions Shane van Boening and David Alcaide should return to the $125,000 tournament, while world champion Francisco Sanchez Ruiz and Ko Ping-Chung will also be involved.
In addition, Matchroom Pool have partnered up with Moltke Sports, who organise top class sporting events in Germany and have helped establish the European Darts Tour, which annually takes place across the continent.
Halle 39 has hosted the German Darts Championship since 2013 and proved a popular venue, with plenty of hotels in the surrounding area and Hanover airport being a relatively short journey.
Sky Sports will broadcast coverage of the tournament in the UK and Ireland, while tickets will go on general sale from Wednesday, December 20.
