Marco Teutscher won the inaugural Oceania Nineball Tour event on Sunday evening at the Empire Pool Lounge in Adelaide, Australia, defeating Mark Lacey 11-6 in the final.

Former Dutch World Cup of Pool representative Teutscher, now based in Hamilton, New Zealand, lived up to his favourite’s tag to snap off his maiden ranking title on the World Nineball Tour.

Teutscher overturned a four-rack deficit in the title decider against Melbourne’s Lacey, reeling off nine racks in succession from 6-2 behind to clinch the $11,600 top prize and enter the world rankings in 73rd place.

The Dutchman, who highlighted his credentials by reaching the last 16 of the 2021 US Open Championship and winning the 2019 US Open 10-Ball Championship, dropped only 18 racks on his way to the final in dominant fashion.

Teutscher brushed aside Australian World Cup of Pool representative James Georgiadis in a 10-3 rout, while Georgiadis’ teammate Justin Sajich was beaten in a hill-hill epic against Lacey in the last 16.

New Zealand’s World Cup of Pool representatives Sullivan Clark and Matt Edwards both endured disappointing defeats, exiting in the last 64 and last 16 against Nick Pera and Greg Jenkins respectively.

The next WNT ranking tournament takes place from August 31 to September 3 in the USA, with nine-time and defending champion Jayson Shaw headlining the biannual Turning Stone Classic in Verona, New York.
