The World Teams Championship returns from February 24-27 at the Westgate Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, as Germany defend their title in the $300,000 WPA-sanctioned tournament.
A total of 20 countries have selected teams of either three, four or five players to represent their nation, with each team involving both male and female players.
Joshua and Pia Filler and Moritz Neuhausen will return after reigning supreme in German colours two years ago in Puerto Rico, when Pia Filler potted a clutch spot shot in a shootout to secure the $120,000 prize.
The United States will have two teams as the host nation, with Shane van Boening, Skyler Woodward and Savannah Easton on the A team, and Tyler Styer, Oscar Dominguez and Sofia Mast on the B team.
Darren Appleton, who was on the British title-winning team at the inaugural staging back in 2010, represents Great Britain alongside Jayson Shaw and Kelly Fisher.
Carlo Biado and Rubilen Amit, who were crowned world teams champions in Filipino colours three years ago in Austria, represent the Philippines alongside Chezka Centeno and Jefrey Roda.
Other title favourites include a star-studded Austrian team of Albin Ouschan, Max Lechner, Mario He and Jasmin Ouschan, as well as Poland’s Wojciech Szewczyk, Daniel Maciol and Katarzyna Wesolowska, and the Spanish quartet of David Alcaide, Francisco Sanchez Ruiz, Jonas Souto Comino and Mayte Ropero.
A strong contingent of teams from Asia include Japan’s Naoyuki Oi, Hayato Hijikata and Chihiro Kawahara and Taiwan’s Wu Kun-Lin, Hsieh Chia-Chen, Hsu Jui-An, Wei Tzu-Chien and Chou Chieh-Yu.
Vietnamese number one Duong Quoc Hoang has hot-footed it from Florida to Las Vegas fresh from his historic Premier League Pool success to pull on red and yellow jersey alongside Phuong Nam Pham and Bui Xuan Vang.
All matches will be race-to-three sets, race-to-four racks and winner breaks. The first set will involve three members of each team and rotate players in each rack, before set two is same-sex doubles, set three is mixed doubles and set four is singles, while a shootout will determine the winner should a match be two apiece in sets.
Free coverage of the 10-ball tournament will be broadcast throughout the duration of the tournament via the Billiard TV websiteand Pro Billiard TV on YouTube.
