American Skyler Woodward has been forced to withdraw from this year’s World Pool Championship in Poland, with an ice storm sweeping across several states and hindering his travel plans.

The Mosconi Cup star travelled back to his native Texas following an impressive showing at the Derby City Classic in Indiana, intending to spend a day at home with his family before travelling to Poland.

Nevertheless, worsening weather conditions in Texas and its surrounding states caused thousands of flights to be cancelled, including Woodward’s scheduled trip to Poland for the $375,000 tournament.

Billiards Digest editor Michael Panozzo revealed the news via social media on Wednesday morning, with other American players, such as Shane van Boening and Tyler Styer, having flew directly from Louisville to Poland.

Woodward had enjoyed a promising start to the 2023 nineball season, securing a fifth-placed finish at the recent Derby City Classic following his narrow defeat at the hands of Jayson Shaw in the Turning Stone Classic final.
