The Jacoby Scottish Open returns to McGoldrick’s Pool and Sports Bar in Glasgow from April 28 until May 4 for its third edition, providing players with ideal preparation ahead of next week’s UK Open Pool Championship.
Despite this year’s lineup not quite living up to last year’s star-studded field, which included all of the world’s top ten and 29 of the world’s top 32, numerous household names have entered in an attempt to seal the $12,500 top prize.
Vietnamese number one Duong Quoc Hoang will be the defending champion after beating Oscar Dominguez in last year’s final, with more than 100,000 fans in Vietnam having live-streamed his success in the early hours of morning 12 months ago.
Former world number one Francisco Sanchez Ruiz will headline the tournament as the top seed, while world number three Eklent Kaci, Aloysius Yapp, David Alcaide, Carlo Biado and home hero Jayson Shaw are also amongst the title favourites.
Recent Helsinki Open champion Jonas Souto Comino will be vying to continue his Mosconi Cup charge, having won two of his last five tournaments, while other notable entrants include Wiktor Zielinski, Pijus Labutis, Naoyuki Oi, Mickey Krause, Alex Kazakis and Niels Feijen.
In addition, Premier League champion Moritz Neuhausen and Helsinki Open runner-up Petri Makkonen will be involved, alongside the likes of Marc Bijsterbosch, Max Lechner, Sanjin Pehlivanovic and prodigiously-talented teenagers Kledio Kaci and AJ Manas.
British number two Elliott Sanderson will be competing at his home venue, while other British entrants include WNT pros Dean Shields and Tom Staveley.
The Scottish Open will be double elimination until 16 players remain and the format then switches to single elimination. It will be race-to-ten racks, winner breaks throughout and race-to-eight on the one-loss side.
Coverage will be broadcast via WNT TV for subscribers as well as the Scottish Cue Sports channel on YouTube throughout the weekend.
