The third annual staging of the European Open Pool Championship will be held from August 6-11 as the World Nineball Tour returns to the Hotel Esperanto in Fulda, Germany for the $200,000 major tournament.
The 256-player features a combination of seasoned professionals and amateur qualifiers, with players vying to follow in the footsteps of Albin Ouschan and David Alcaide, the latter of who beat Anton Raga 13-12 in last year’s epic final.
Two-time world champion and freshly-minted world number one Fedor Gorst headlines a star-studded field alongside the likes of home hero Joshua Filler, Francisco Sanchez Ruiz, Shane van Boening, Jayson Shaw and US Open champion Ko Ping-Chung.
All of the world’s top 32 players on the world nineball rankings aside from the absent Carlo Biado and Dang Jinhu have entered this year’s European Open, with the eventual champion receiving $30,000 in prize money.
The double elimination phase will take place from August 6-8, with 64 players then progressing to the single elimination phase which begins on August 9.
It will be race-to-nine racks on the winners’ side and race-to-eight racks on the one-loss side during double elimination, before the format increases to race-to-10 racks for the last 64 through to the quarter-finals.
The semi-finals and final will take place on Sunday, August 13 across two sessions, with the format being race-to-11 racks for the semi-finals and race-to-13 racks for the title decider.
Coverage will be broadcast via the Matchroom YouTube channels and DAZN in the USA throughout the duration, while Sky Sports in the UK and Ireland and Sport1 in Germany will show the final two days.
Other international broadcasters will provide coverage depending on the location. A full list of broadcasters can be found here.
