Jayson Shaw and Shane van Boening have been named as the third and final automatic qualifiers for the respective Mosconi Cup teams following the Hanoi Open Pool Championship in Vietnam.
Shaw will make his eighth consecutive appearance on the European team after landing his maiden major accolade in the World Nineball Tour era by defeating Albin Ouschan in the Hanoi Open final.
The two-time MVP, who has lifted the Mosconi Cup on five occasions, cherishes the extravaganza and comes into his own when wearing the European blue at London’s iconic Alexandra Palace.
Van Boening, meanwhile, will make his 17th consecutive appearance and continues to be a stalwart of the American team despite not reaching a Matchroom major quarter-final this year.
For someone of the calibre of the five-time US Open champion, his Mosconi Cup record isn’t one that makes for good reading and he will be vying to improve that when December comes around.
Shaw joins world number one Francisco Sanchez Ruiz and David Alcaide on the European roster, while SVB accompanies Skyler Woodward and Fedor Gorst in representing the stars and stripes.
The 30th anniversary staging of the Mosconi Cup takes place from December 6-9 at London’s Alexandra Palace, with Ralph Eckert and Jeremy Jones naming their wildcards in the coming weeks.
