Reigning UK Open champion Eklent Kaci has been ruled out of professional pool for at least a couple of months following a freak off-road car accident.
Kaci, who defeated former world champion Joshua Filler to clinch his maiden nineball major last month, will now spend a prolonged period away from the table.
The two-time world 10-ball champion has been one of the most in-form players this year and stands in good stead of a Mosconi Cup return but released a social media status explaining his incident.
“Car accident doing off-road in the mountains. Did a four-hour operation fixing the bones and connecting the tendons, few iron added in,” the Albanian explained.
“Need to have one more operation and the doctors said that the arm and hand will be alright.
“Won’t be able to play pool for a couple of months. Hopefully I’ll have my arm back in good condition. Thank god it didn’t go any worse.”
Kaci will now miss the upcoming European Open in Germany but could return to the table in time for September’s US Open and October’s inaugural Asian Open in Vietnam.
