The inaugural staging of the Men’s Jax 10-Ball Open will be held from December 16-21 at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Waterfront hotel in Florida as the Predator Pro Billiard Series season concludes.
Despite numerous members of the world’s elite having already started their winter break, a strong lineup will still compete for the $100,000 prize fund in the sunshine state, with the eventual champion receiving a $30,000 cheque.
WPA number one Alex Kazakis headlines the 96-player field alongside the likes of Joshua Filler and Aloysius Yapp, the latter of whom will be aiming to conclude the greatest season of his career in style.
Jayson Shaw will make a rare appearance on the Pro Billiard Series, while reigning world eight-ball champion Albin Ouschan, Eklent Kaci and Robbie Capito will also be amongst the title favourites in Jacksonville.
Former champions on the Pro Billiard Series in Wiktor Zielinski, Konrad Juszczyszyn, Dimitris Loukatos, Vitaly Patsura and Mario He will all be vying to add to their title tallies.
Other notable entrants include the legendary Darren Appleton, Peru’s Gerson Martinez and Cristopher Tevez, Jesus Atencio, John Morra, Marco Teutscher, Tyler Styer and Bader Alawadhi, as well as Indonesian teenage phenom Albert Januarta and Finland’s Arseni Sevastyanov.
The Jax Open is double elimination until 32 players remain and uses Predator’s unique format, with three sets of race-to-four being contested. Should the third set be level at 3-3, a shootout will determine who prevails.
Free coverage will be broadcast throughout the duration of the tournament via Billiard TV and Pro Billiard TV on YouTube.
