The Peri 9-Ball Open returns in the coming days as the third staging of the World Nineball Tour ranking event takes place from October 2-5 at the Peri Pool Arena in Da Nang, Vietnam.
Former world number one Francisco Sanchez Ruiz will be defending his title as the tournament which boasts one of the strongest fields on the tour returns, this year yielding a $40,000 top prize for the eventual champion.
World number one Fedor Gorst and reigning world champion Carlo Biado headline the 256-player field, which also includes US Open winner Aloysius Yapp and newly-crowned world 10-ball champion Ko Ping-Chung.
Biado leads a strong contingent of Filipino players to the Vietnamese coast, with the likes of Hanoi Open winner Johann Chua, Jefrey Roda, Bernie Regalario, Lee Van Corteza, Anton Raga and Michael Baoanan also amongst those involved.
Other notable entrants include 2024 runner-up Dimitris Loukatos, Albin Ouschan, Ko Pin-Yi, Niels Feijen, David Alcaide and Alex Kazakis, as well as Jonas Souto Comino, Skyler Woodward, Naoyuki Oi, Wiktor Zielinski, Robbie Capito, Pijus Labutis and Moritz Neuhausen.
Vietnam’s predominant hopes lie in the hands of their number one Duong Quoc Hoang, while Nguyen Anh Tuan, Luong Duc Thien and Bui Truong An are also some of the top Vietnamese talents involved.
It will be race-to-nine racks, winner breaks and double elimination until the last 64, when the format increases to race-to-10. The semi-finals will be race-to-11 and the final will be race-to-13 racks.
Coverage will be broadcast throughout the four-day tournament via WNT TV for those with an active subscription, while the action will also be shown via Vietnamese Billiards Promotions and numerous other media outlets in Vietnam.
