The inaugural staging of the Women’s Saigon 9-Ball Open will take place from September 20-26 at the Military Zone 7 Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, held alongside the Men’s World 10-Ball Championship.
With sizeable crowds expected to witness the world’s best female players in one of the biggest pool hotbeds in the world, reigning women’s world champion Rubilen Amit and women’s number one Kristina Tkach will headline the field.
Six women’s world 9-ball champions are amongst the 64-player lineup for the Predator Pro Billiard Series event, also including Kelly Fisher and Chou Chieh-Yu as well as China’s Liu Shasha, Fu Xiaofang and Han Yu.
Other notable entrants include world number two Jasmin Ouschan, Wei Tzu-Chien, Chezka Centeno, Seo Seoa, Pia Filler, Mayan Zhang and newly-crowned China Open champion Chihiro Kawahara.
Duong Yen Vi and Nguyen Bich Tram are amongst the 13 entries from Vietnamese players, while Filipino phenom Rhaki Constantino, American Savannah Easton and Taiwan’s Hong Xin-Yu are three talented teenagers involved.
The $75,000 tournament, which rewards $22,500 to the eventual champion, will feature 64 players and is double elimination during the early rounds, with 16 players advancing to the single elimination phase.
It will be best-of-three sets of race-to-four racks throughout the duration, as has become commonplace in Predator Pro Billiard Series events. A shootout will determine the winner should the score be 3-3 in the deciding set.
Free coverage will be broadcast throughout the duration of the tournament via the Billiard TV website and Pro Billiard TV on YouTube, while Box Billiards Vietnam will show every match via their YouTube channel.
