Fedor Gorst imitated Michael Baoanan as he came through a hill-hill epic to reach the US Open Pool Championship semi-finals in Atlantic City.
Gorst battled back from 6-2 behind to deny his Filipino opponent and keep his US Open title defence on course, making the semi-finals for the third consecutive year.
However, it was an incident at the conclusion of the fourth rack that the closely-contested quarter-final clash will be remembered for.
Gorst was 3-0 down during the early exchanges and, after eventually getting off the mark, his annoyance came to the fore and things got rather spicy as he shouted to the crowd.
‘Shall I soft break guys or no?’ was the rhetorical question to the crowd from Gorst, before he seemingly mimicked Baoanan’s break with a lack of backswing.
Gorst will face another Filipino in Hanoi Open champion Johann Chua in the final four, having ended Baoanan’s incredible run to the quarter-finals.
