The Battle of the Bull returns for its third edition from August 13-16 at Wolf’s Den Billiards in Roanoke, Virginia as the World Nineball Tour continues its summer swing stateside.
After world number three Aloysius Yapp landed his second major accolade of the season at the weekend, 128 players compete for $70,000 in Virgina leading up to next week’s prestigious US Open Championship in Atlantic City.
Six of the world’s top ten players are involved as reigning two-time world champion Carlo Biado, Fedor Gorst, Yapp and Johann Chua headline a star-studded field alongside Francisco Sanchez Ruiz and Mickey Krause.
Shane van Boening has also entered, days before beginning another quest for a record-breaking sixth US Open title, while David Alcaide and Albin Ouschan have travelled onto Virginia.
In addition, Robbie Capito, Moritz Neuhausen, Pijus Labutis, Jonas Souto Comino and Vietnam’s number one Duong Quoc Hoang have entered, as have the likes of Naoyuki Oi, Mario He, Max Lechner, Wiktor Zielinski, Alex Kazakis and the legendary Ralf Souquet and Thorsten Hohmann.
Tyler Styer, Nathan Childress, Shane Wolford, Lukas Fracasso-Verner, Landon Hollingsworth and Sam Henderson will be amongst those competing on home soil.
Defending champion Billy Thorpe has opted against travelling, while last year’s runner-up John Morra and beaten semi-finalists Gregorio Sanchez and Roberto Gomez have entered.
It will be double elimination and race-to-eight racks until 32 players remain, when the format switches to single elimination and race-to-nine. Saturday’s semi-finals will be race-to-11 and the final will be race-to-13 racks.
Coverage will be broadcast via WNT TV for those with a subscription, while further coverage will be available on Digital Pool TV for those with an event pass throughout the four days.
