Earl Strickland has returned to the World Nineball Tour for this week’s inaugural Florida Open Championship and his antics were already on show on the opening day.
Strickland beat British broadcaster Andy Goldstein in the first round, before being defeated by Venezuela’s top player Jesus Atencio in his second match.
Atencio claimed five consecutive racks to win 9-5 from 5-4 behind against the three-time world champion, but the match will be remembered for Strickland’s antics around the table.
Atencio jumped over the eight ball to hit the six ball in the fourth rack, fluking a hook in the process, with Strickland jokingly saying ‘you’re a lucky guy, I’ll tell you that’ and ‘he thinks he’s good’ as he returned to the table.
