World Pool Championship 2025: Draw, live scores, format, prize fund and how to watch

The World Pool Championship returns to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia from July 21-26 as 128 players compete for the lucrative $1million prize purse in the richest tournament on the World Nineball Tour roster.

World number one Fedor Gorst will return to Jeddah’s Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Sports City to defend his crown, having defeated Eklent Kaci in one of the greatest ever finals last year to scoop the historic $250,000 champion’s cheque.

The top 100 on the world nineball rankings all received invitations to the iconic event, and they will be joined by 16 WPA wildcards, the Saudi Arabian federation representatives and international qualifiers.

Gorst will headline the 128-player field and is amongst eleven former champions heading to the Middle East, accompanying Francisco Sanchez Ruiz, Shane van Boening, Albin Ouschan, Joshua Filler, Carlo Biado, Ko Pin-Yi, Niels Feijen, Thorsten Hohmann, Ralf Souquet and Alex Pagulayan.

World number two and UK Open champion Aloysius Yapp and Hanoi Open winner Johann Chua are amongst those bidding to become first-time world champions, alongside the likes of Kaci, Jayson Shaw, Ko Ping-Chung, Mickey Krause and David Alcaide.

Wojciech Szewczyk, a semi-finalist last time around, is also amongst the notable entries, as are Pijus Labutis, Premier League champion Moritz Neuhausen, Jonas Souto Comino, Wiktor Zielinski, Japan’s Naoyuki Oi and Vietnam’s Duong Quoc Hoang.

Poland’s Szymon Kural, European champion Casper Matikainen and Iraq’s Ameer Ali are amongst the WPA wildcards, while Saudi youngster Khalid Al-Ghamdi leads the host nation representatives and South Korea’s Seo Seoa is the sole female player involved.

Players will need to win two matches to come through the double elimination phase, which is race-to-nine racks, before the single elimination phase involves 64 players and is race-to-11 racks until Saturday evening’s race-to-15 final.

Coverage will be broadcast live on Sky Sports throughout the six days, beginning from 7pm local time on Monday, while FanDuel (USA, Canada), Vietnam Billiards Promotion (Vietnam) and One Sports (Philippines) will also be screening the action amongst others.
