The second staging of the Helsinki Open, also known this year as the Taom V10 Open for sponsorship reasons, takes place from April 24-27 at the Biljardi 247 pool room in the Finnish capital.
Japanese sensation Naoyuki Oi returns to Finland to defend his crown, having landed his maiden World Nineball Tour ranking title there last August after defeating former world number one Francisco Sanchez Ruiz in the final.
Sanchez Ruiz headlines this year’s 96-player field alongside the likes of fellow Mosconi Cup stars Jayson Shaw and David Alcaide, while Pijus Labutis, recent Super Billiards Expo champion Niels Feijen and Wiktor Zielinski are also amongst the title favourites.
Other notable entries include the well-travelled Jonas Souto Comino, Vietnam’s number one Duong Quoc Hoang, Sanjin Pehlivanovic, Denis Grabe, John Morra, Kledio Kaci, Marc Bijsterbosch and the legendary Ralf Souquet.
Newly-crowned European 9-ball champion Casper Matikainen is amongst the Finnish players competing on home soil, which also include teenager Riku Romppanen, UK Open semi-finalist Petri Makkonen, Jani Uski and Jani Siekkinen.
Former world snooker champion Stuart Bingham has also entered, making another appearance on the WNT circuit following his 2023 European Open and 2024 UK Open campaigns.
The tournament will be double elimination until 32 players remain and race-to-nine, alternate break until the last 16, then it will be race-to-10 racks in the last 16 and quarter-finals, race-to-11 in the semi-finals and race-to-13 in the final.
Main table coverage will be broadcast via WNT TV for subscribers throughout the four days, while further coverage of every other table will be shown via the BilliardTube YouTube channel.
