Women’s US Open Championship to return for first time in more than a decade

The Women’s US Open 9-Ball Championship will return for the first time in more than a decade after the Women’s Professional Billiards Association (WPBA) announced its 2026 revival.

The Women’s US Open was held annually between 1984 and 1994 and 2002 and 2012, although the prestigious tournament has not featured on the WPBA calendar since it was held in Tulsa, Oklahoma 13 years ago.

Having originally been won by Jean Balukas in 1984, the likes of Kelly Fisher, Loree Jon Jones, Jeanette Lee, Ireland’s Karen Corr and three-time winner Kim Ga-Young of South Korea have since been victorious at the tournament.

Allison Fisher will be the defending champion having won the event when it was last held, and the Brit also holds the record for the most wins as a five-time champion.

The Women’s US Open’s 2026 return will take place from April 16-19 at the Island Resort and Casino in Harris, Michigan, and marks the 50th anniversary of the WPBA.

The WPBA stage a full calendar of women’s tournaments annually, including events such as the Soaring Eagle Masters and the Tour Championship.
