Qualifiers will be held in Vietnam in the coming months in the lead up to September’s Predator Men’s World 10-Ball Championship, with anyone eligible to enter qualifying and attempt to book their spot at the main event.
Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City will each stage three qualifying events between April and August, before the $400,000 World 10-Ball Championship takes place in Ho Chi Minh City from September 18-30.
The top eight from each qualifier as well as the next eight highest-ranked players in the Road to the World 10-Ball rankings will qualify for Stage One of the event alongside eight wildcard selections.
Eight players from Stage One can then attempt to qualify for the lucrative main event, being accompanied in the 96-player field by the top 40 in the WPA rankings, 40 players allocated by member federations and eight wildcards.
Anyone will be permitted to enter qualifying, including the 200-plus players currently banned by the WPA for competing in last October’s Hanoi Open. Their six-month ban would have concluded, but they will need to reinstate their membership to compete in the main event.
Hanoi will stage non-sanctioned qualifiers from April 25-29, May 13-17 and June 11-15, while Ho Chi Minh City’s qualifying events are held from July 7-11, July 28-August 1 and August 25-29.
Each qualifier will involve 128 players, the top eight from each event qualifying for Stage One, with the World 10-Ball Championship’s unique race-to-four set-play format also being used in qualifying.
Organised by Vietnamese promoters Box Billiards in association with Kamui, whoever reigns victorious at each qualifying event will receive $5,500 in prize money, a total of $120,000 will be up for grabs across the six qualifiers.
