Hanoi Open Pool Championship 2024: Draw, live scores, format, prize fund and how to watch

The second staging of the Hanoi Open Pool Championship takes place from October 8-13 at the Hanoi Indoor Games Gymnasium in the Vietnamese capital, with more than 200 players competing for $200,000 in prize money.

Jayson Shaw defeated Albin Ouschan 13-12 in a thrilling showpiece twelve months ago in front of a 3,000-strong raucous crowd to become the inaugural champion of an event that was an immediate success.

World number one and world champion Fedor Gorst, who received the superstar treatment in Vietnam last year, will headline a field which also includes the likes of Francisco Sanchez Ruiz, Shane van Boening, Eklent Kaci and the Ko brothers.

Vietnamese number one Duong Quoc Hoang will make his Hanoi Open debut after missing last year’s tournament due to federation threats, while Vietnam’s other stand-out contenders include Nguyen Anh Tuan and Peri Open quarter-finalists Luong Duc Thien and Nguyen Hoang Tuan.

European Open champion Mickey Krause and UK Open champion Robbie Capito will also be amongst those involved, as will the likes of Wiktor Zielinski, Aloysius Yapp, David Alcaide and Skyler Woodward.

World Championship semi-finalist Johann Chua leads a strong Filipino contingent to Hanoi, with Anton Raga, Michael Feliciano, Jefrey Roda, Bernie Regalario, James Aranas, Lee Van Corteza and Jeffrey Ignacio amongst them.

Other notable entrants include UK Open semi-finalist Pijus Labutis, Sanjin Pehlivanovic, Aleksa Pecelj and US Open quarter-finalist Mustafa Alnar, while the likes of Oscar Dominguez, Tyler Styer and Billy Thorpe will be contending for spots on the American Mosconi Cup team.

A star-studded field will assemble in the Vietnamese capital despite the WPA’s intentions to sanction anyone who competes, with Joshua Filler, Albin Ouschan, Mario He, Max Lechner and Alexander Kazakis amongst others therefore withdrawing.

Coverage will be broadcast on Matchroom Pool’s social media platforms for the opening four days from 10am local time, with Sky Sports subsequently showing the final two days in the UK and Ireland.

Vietcontent and webthethao.vn will provide coverage in Vietnam, while DAZN and TAP will show the action in the USA and the Philippines respectively. A full list of broadcasters can be found here.
