The Peri 9-Ball Open returns this week as the second staging of the World Nineball Tour ranking event takes place from October 1-4 at the Peri Pool Arena in Da Nang, Vietnam.
Having been held in Hanoi for its inaugural edition twelve months ago, the Peri Open relocates to the coastal city of Da Nang this year at another purpose-built venue which will host the world’s biggest names.
World number one and defending champion Fedor Gorst headlines a star-studded field, with Francisco Sanchez Ruiz, Shane van Boening and brothers Ko Ping-Chung and Ko Pin-Yi also amongst the 256 players involved.
Ho Chi Minh City Open winner Carlo Biado, Johann Chua, Anton Raga and Dennis Orcollo lead a strong Filipino contingent to Vietnam, while other notable entrants include Albin Ouschan, Wiktor Zielinski, Sanjin Pehlivanovic, Aloysius Yapp and Skyler Woodward.
In addition, European Open champion Mickey Krause and UK Open champion Robbie Capito have travelled to Da Nang, as have legends Darren Appleton, Thorsten Hohmann and Ralf Souquet.
Oscar Dominguez, Tyler Styer and Billy Thorpe are the Americans who have flown to Vietnam in the hope of securing Mosconi Cup spots, with the latter competing in fine form following his Battle of the Bull success.
Scottish Open champion Duong Quoc Hoang and Nguyen Anh Tuan headline the Vietnamese representatives, which also include Pham Phuong Nam, Do The Kien, Bui Truong An and the flamboyant Do Van Khai.
It will be race-to-nine racks and winner breaks until the last 16 when the format increases to race-to-10. The semi-finals will be race-to-11 and the final will be race-to-13 racks.
Coverage will be broadcast on the webthethao.vn YouTube channel as well as the Vietnam Billiards Promotion Facebook page, while selected matches will be shown on the Matchroom Pool YouTube channel.
