Kyle Amoroto is one of the most promising youngsters that the Philippines currently has to offer, but a damaging mistake may have harmed his hopes of a successful career in the sport.
It was revealed on Monday afternoon, six weeks after he was dropped by his sponsors Marboys Billiards Cafe and CPBA, that the Pool Regulation Authority (PRA), the World Nineball Tour’s disciplinary board, have suspended him whilst they investigate.
Amoroto allegedly accepted financial gain to fix a challenge match in the Philippines and, despite that match being private and not associated with the WNT, the PRA intervened due to the young Filipino being a WNT professional.
Marboys founder JR Velasco confirmed that the said allegations were ‘not his only violations’ and that Amoroto was given ‘so many chances to recover and redeem himself, not just once, not twice but several times’.

Amoroto released a public apology in August with deep regret, saying: “I have recently been involved in a match-fixing scandal and I realise that my actions were wrong, not only violating my professional ethics but also hurting the trust and feelings of those who have always supported and accompanied me.
“I have not been able to sleep for the past few days. I have spent time reflecting and considering everything. The mistake I made makes me feel very guilty. My haste and greed have caused me to make a serious mistake
“I would like to extend my sincerest apologies to all my fans and sponsors, especially boss JR and boss Marvin and all the Marboys members. I understand that all your trust has been seriously damaged and I am deeply saddened by that. I have realised my mistake and deeply regret my actions.
“This is a lesson I have learned and I do not want to repeat it. I hope everyone will give me a chance to fix things. This is my passion, my lifetime action. I will try my best to fix my mistakes and regain everyone’s trust. I will train harder, dedicate myself to prove that I am not a completely wrong person, to become a person worthy of everyone’s support.
“Once again, I apologise for what happened and hope everybody will give me a chance to fix things. I hope that, with time and effort, I can regain your trust and affection.”
Amoroto, who beat Shane van Boening on his way to the Hanoi Open quarter-finals last year, will have until October 1 to contest his suspension from all World Nineball Tour competitions.
