The full field has been confirmed for the upcoming World Pool Championship in Saudi Arabia, with 128 players competing for the historic $1million prize fund.
The top 100 on the World Nineball Tour rankings will be accompanied by 13 Saudi representatives as well as those who received wildcards from promoters Matchroom, the World Pool Association or national federations.
All of the household names in the sport will be heading to the Middle East for the crown jewel of nineball pool, including world number one and defending champion Francisco Sanchez Ruiz and former winners Fedor Gorst, Joshua Filler and Shane van Boening.
Albin Ouschan, who has reached a record four World Championship finals, is also amongst those involved, as well as last year’s runner-up Mohammad Soufi, US Open winner Ko Ping-Chung and newly-crowned UK Open champion Robbie Capito.
UK Open semi-finalist Petri Makkonen has been named amongst the wildcards, which also include former world 10-ball champion Wojciech Szewczyk, Poland’s Daniel Maciol, Kuwait’s Bader Al-Awadhi and female star Pia Filler.
Teenager Khalid Al-Ghamdi, a junior champion on the World Nineball Tour and a former Premier League Pool participant, headlines the host nation representatives alongside Abdullah Al-Shammari.
The World Pool Championship begins on Monday, June 3 at the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Sports City in Jeddah, with the prestigious tournament lasting six days until the semi-finals and final on Saturday, June 8.
