World 8-Ball Championship rescheduled for September amid Hanoi Open and Reyes Cup clash

The WPA World 8-Ball Championship will now take place in Hamilton, New Zealand from September 2-8, with Predator relocating from their original October dates due to clashing with the Hanoi Open and the Reyes Cup.

The $250,000 tournament was originally planned to be held in Venezuela in October, although it be will now take place alongside the WPA Women’s World 9-Ball Championship and the WPA World Junior Championships.

“We understand the challenges posed by overlapping events like the Reyes Cup and the Hanoi Open,” said Vincent Rochefort, the Predator Pro Billiard Series event manager.

“By moving the WPA Men’s World 8-Ball Championship to New Zealand, we’re ensuring that players can participate in all premier events without conflict. We’re dedicated to delivering top-tier tournaments and fostering a thriving global billiards community.

“We are committed to making the game better. Clashing events are not beneficial for anyone, especially the players. With the trust of our partners, we were able to move to New Zealand. We are excited to witness a great week of pool and crown five new world champions.”

Despite the World 8-Ball Championship relocating to New Zealand, the Women’s World 10-Ball Championship remains scheduled for October in Caracas, Venezuela, with 48 elite female players competing for $175,000 in prize money.
