Vietnamese player Dang Hoang Huy has received backlash for controversially intervening and accusing teenager Savannah Easton of not calling an ‘unobvious’ shot during a tournament in Las Vegas.
Players are often required to call shots in 10-ball pool when the shot in question does not appear to the eye or there are multiple options, with the Cue Sports International Singles at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino using those rules.
Easton sunk the one ball whilst playing position for a two-three combination, with the three ball noticeably on the shelf of the pocket, although Dang pulled her up on it and called a foul on his opponent.
Dang cleared up and moved onto the hill in the race-to-seven contest and, despite 13-year-old Easton winning the next four racks to force a decider, the Vietnamese cueist prevailed following a bank shot that rattled the pocket and eventually dropped.
