The Universal Chinese Taipei Open takes place from November 18-20 at the Hulk Pool Room in Taipei City, Taiwan, acting as the latest World Nineball Tour ranking event on the 2023 calendar.
Being the first in a series of ranking tournaments held by Taiwanese promoters Fullcan Sports, the 64-player event will feature some of Asia’s biggest talents.
US Open champion Ko Ping-Chung and World Pool Masters winner Ko Pin-Yi headline the field alongside the in-form Aloysius Yapp and World Cup of Pool champions Johann Chua and James Aranas.
European Open runner-up Anton Raga, Michael Feliciano, Kyle Amoroto and teenage sensation Bernie Regalario are also amongst a strong contingent of players who have travelled from the Philippines.
Other notable Taiwanese players who will compete include Chang Jung-Lin, Chang Yu-Lung, Liu Ri-Teng and two-time World Pool Championship runner-up Kuo Po-Cheng.
The first two days of the event will be double elimination until eight players remain, with the format being race-to-nine and race-to-eight on the one-loss side, before the quarter-finals and semi-finals are race-to-ten and the final is race-to-eleven.
Coverage will be broadcast live via the Matchroom Pool social media platforms, with selected matches throughout the duration as well as the semi-finals and final to be shown on their YouTube channel.
