The 2023 Connecticut Open is the latest tournament on the World Nineball Tour and takes place from September 22-23 at Jayson Shaw’s pool room in West Haven.
US 1 Billiards will host its inaugural ranking event ahead of next week’s prestigious US Open Pool Championship, with 64 players competing for more than $25,000 in prize money.
Five-time US Open champion Shane van Boening will be top seed due to Francisco Sanchez Ruiz’s withdrawal due to illness, while Shaw, Mario He, David Alcaide, Skyler Woodward and the Ko brothers are also amongst the title favourites.
In addition, Carlo Biado features following his title-winning campaign at the Raxx MVP Tour Open last week, while his countrymen Anton Raga and Lee Van Corteza have entered alongside him.
It’s another crucial weekend in the race to the Mosconi Cup for American players, with Shane Wolford, ranking event winner Billy Ussery, Billy Thorpe, Lukas Fracasso-Verner and Jeremy Sossei amongst those attempting to strengthen their hopes.
Coverage will be broadcast throughout the duration of the tournament via the Mad Apple Xstream YouTube channel, with selected matches also to be shown via the Matchroom Pool YouTube channel.
